More and more people are enjoying the benefits and wonders of plastic surgery. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there are about 1.6 million cosmetic surgical procedures done in 2013.
Topping the list of the top five cosmetic surgical procedures done in the US for 2013, the most popular and the most performed surgery is breast augmentation. An increasing number of women want to increase their breast sizes through breast implants. About 290,000 women have undergone breast augmentation for 2013.
Closely following breast augmentation is the procedure of nose-reshaping. Also known as rhinoplasty, roughly 221,000 people availed the procedure to improve the appearance of their noses. Rhinoplasty involves the altering the shape of the nose through the addition or removal of bone or cartilage.
Eyelid surgery is the third most performed cosmetic surgical procedure. Approximately 216,000 eyelid surgeries are done in 2013 to contour eyelids, to smooth eye bags and eye puffiness, or to improve the general appearance of the eyes.
With around 200,000 recorded surgeries performed in 2013, the famous procedure of liposuction gets included in the list. Although there is a 1% drop compare to 2012, Liposuction or the technique of removing excess fat deposits in the body through suction still remains as one of the giants of cosmetic surgery.
Fifth on the list is facelift. Almost 133,000 people got their face rejuvenated – with less to zero unwanted wrinkles through the tightening of the facial skin.
